LIFE HACK: UPDATE YOUR PHONE IT'LL ANNOY ZUCKERBERG

ICYMI: iOS 13 is out, and you should update...

What's come out is that amongst other hella shady ways of tracking users, Facebook (and others) have been hijacking the Bluetooth signal of phones to get hyper-accurate location matches and potentially bypass Location Service access.

This means, Facebook, for example, could log your location relative to someone else even if you had your mobile data and Location Services turned off - which is nuts... You'll be prompted to turn this off once your phone updates, but it's going to be interesting what else comes to light with this.

NON-SCIENCE BASED WEIGHT LOSS PRODUCTS OF MYSTERIOUS ORIGIN HATE THEM!

I really love Insta's whole 'fixing social media' vibe they've got going on right now. First, we got rid of like counts, and now Insta (+ Facebook by extension) are going to be cracking down on ads making "miraculous" claims about weight loss and cosmetic surgery.

The aim is to get this potentially harmful content away from younger users who have proven more susceptible to this type of targeting. A claim that Insta and Facebook went to a team of academics to back up (always good).

It's time for my weekly dose of TikTok (seriously I have an addiction). Unfortunately, the news this week isn't so positive... The Washington Post has called out TikTok for a suspicious lack of content from the Hong Kong protests, alleging that the companies Beijing roots have resulted in censorship of the unrest across the platform. BTW, check it yourself by searching #HongKong on TikTok, nothing but smiles and happy faces.

No doubt, this is a complicated political issue and frankly an almost unprovable offence, but it raises some serious questions about how companies like TikTok should approach privacy as they gain more and more influence in global markets.
